What is KAMRA Inlay?

Over the age of 40, many people find themselves gradually losing the ability to focus on near objects. Until recently, reading glasses were the best method of treatment. Now, Inland Eye Specialists offers the KAMRA® Inlay treatment, an eye procedure that restores near vision and frees you from the frustrations of reading glasses.

The KAMRA® Inlay sits within the first few layers of the eye known as the cornea. Smaller and thinner than a contact lens, the inlay uses a pinhole effect to focus the light coming into your eye. This restores near vision while maintaining distance vision without blurry zones.

Is KAMRA Inlay right for me?

  • Are you having trouble with near vision?
  • Are you having difficulty reading or seeing well at night?
  • Are you experiencing depth perception issues?
  • Do you have an astigmatism?

If you answer “Yes” to any of these questions, you may be a candidate for KAMRA Inlay. Schedule a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the KAMRA™ Inlay treatment?

The KAMRA™ Inlay treatment is an eye procedure that restores near vision and frees you from the constant frustrations of reading glasses.

What are the benefits of KAMRA Inlay?

KAMRA Inlay provides a natural range of vision – from near to far – without blurry zones. It also offers long-lasting visual performance to help you enjoy clear near vision over time.

What are the side effects after the KAMRA inlay procedure?

Your eye care provider will thoroughly discuss all of the potential side effects with you when you come in for a free consultation, but the most common side effects include:

  • Dry eye
  • Glare
  • Halos and night vision disturbances.

These are the same conditions you would experience with LASIK or PRK. Over time, these conditions are expected to resolve or lessen.

Is the procedure painful?

Drops are given to numb the eye, so most patients report that KAMRA™ Inlay is a painless procedure. However, some patients do experience minor discomfort from the pressure sensation felt during the creation of the pocket.

How soon after the surgery can I resume normal activities?

Most patients resume normal activities and return to work within 24-48 hours. Your doctor will discuss your specific recovery process with you in more detail during your consultation.

How does the KAMRA™ Inlay restore my near vision?

The KAMRA™ Inlay sits within the first few layers of the eye known as the cornea, in front of the pupil. Smaller and thinner then a contact lens, the inlay is a mini-ring with an opening in the center to allow light rays in. By using this pinhole effect, the inlay focuses the light coming into the eye. This restores near vision while maintaining your distance vision.

What’s It Like To Have KAMRA Inlay

1. Schedule A Consultation

At a time that’s convenient for you, an Inland eye doctor will meet with you to discuss the changes in your vision and help you understand available options. The consultation and diagnostic testing do not obligate you to any future service, they simply help us determine if you are a candidate for KAMRA™ Inlay. You will have an opportunity to schedule your procedure at this appointment.

2. Arrive At The Inland Office For KAMRA™ Inlay

After being greeted by the staff, you are met by the doctor who will be performing your KAMRA™ Inlay procedure.

3. Travel Home For Recovery

After surgery, you must have a friend or family member provide your transportation home. You may experience improved vision right away, but we recommend not reading, driving, or using a computer for the rest of the day.

4. Come Back For A Post-Op Checkup

It is important that you meet with your doctor after your KAMRA™ Inlay procedure. We will confirm that your eyes are healthy and clear you for normal activity.
