Am I A Candidate?

In addition to meeting certain criteria, potential candidates must first have realistic expectations of outcomes and remember that the main purpose of this procedure is to reduce your dependence on contact lenses and glasses.

During your detailed consultation, you will be counseled on whether you are a good candidate for surgery - and which surgery - LASIK or PRK - is best and safest for you. Potential candidates must stay out of their contact lenses for at least 14 days prior to their initial consultation. You must be at least 18 years of age or older, and have no prior history of ocular injury or disease such as cataract, glaucoma, or macular degeneration. Patients with certain eye conditions may not be good candidates for LASIK. These include a history of corneal diseases such as keratoconus, corneal dystrophy, corneal thinning, corneal scarring, viral infection of the cornea, or severe dry eye. Also, patients with a history of ocular inflammation or autoimmune disease are generally ruled-out for surgery. Women who are nursing or pregnant are also not good candidates. Lastly, your vision and glasses prescription must be stable for at least 1 year prior to the procedure.

Most importantly, it is imperative for you to make an informed and educated decision about this life-changing procedure, and every effort will be made to make sure you understand every aspect of the process and that all of your questions are answered.

Cataract Surgery

Cataract patients now have an option for excellent near and far vision after cataract surgery! Previously, individuals suffering from cataracts had only a mono-focal lens implant option after surgery. New multifocal IOL technology can now decrease dependence on glasses after surgery and give you a much broader range of vision. If you are seeking IOL lens options in Temecula, consult one of our qualified and experienced Inland Eye Specialists' surgeons to help you see better!
