Brett R. Larson, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Font Resizer

Dr. Larson is a graduate of Brigham Young University and received his optometric degree Cum Laude from the Southern California College of Optometry.

Dr. Larson completed a residency specializing in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the Southern California College of Optometry where he received training in designing and fitting contact lenses for patients with irregular corneas including keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and corneal transplant patients. Of these specialty lenses, Dr. Larson has spent numerous hours perfecting the design and fit of scleral lenses which provide improved comfort and ocular health for those patients that require rigid gas permeable lenses.

Dr. Larson has received extensive training in the fitting of ocular prosthetics (prosthetic eyes) and cosmetic contact lenses. He has provided care for hundreds of patients that have had eye removal, misshapen, or scarred eyes. He finds this particular area of eye care especially rewarding as he sees his patient’s confidence restored and their lives change for the better.

Dr. Larson also provides pediatric contact lenses for children of all ages. He regularly fits infants that have had cataract removals with soft contact lenses in order to encourage normal vision development. Certified in corneal refractive therapy which allows a patient to sleep in special contact lenses at night and see clearly during the following day eliminating the need to use glasses or contact lenses for daytime wear.

During his time as an intern, Dr. Larson completed a clinical rotation at the Center for the Partially Sighted where he provided low vision evaluations and care for patients that are legally blind. He has received several scholarships and awards for his work with those in this special needs group.

Dr. Larson has lectured at the local and national level on the topic of scleral lenses and care of patients with corneal irregularities. He has also published articles on the topics of gas permeable contact lenses and toric contact lenses for patients with astigmatism.

Dr. Larson is a fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society where he provides training and education to other practitioners on the topic of scleral lenses. He is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Society.

In his free time Dr. Larson enjoys running, weight lifting, racquetball, and spending time with his wife and children.
